Adam was supposed to be out of town for my birthday in April, but he came home early to surprise me! He showed up while the young women from our church were at our apartment for an activity. :) Since we didn't get to go out that night together, he let me choose whatever I wanted over the weekend.
Since they were in season, I chose to go see the beautiful Texas bluebonnets. We drove around this place for almost two hours and saw fields after fields of bluebonnets and Indian paintbrushes. Adam was a good sport. :)
We met up with Ashlie and Jonathan and surprised their girls at a park one day on the way home from my parents' house. We hit the jackpot and got to see Jonathan's brother and his family, too!
Rangers vs. White Sox game with friends. Rangers won!
Grabbed some dinner one last time with this awesome group of friends before the Davises (the couple second from the right) left us for Utah. :( We miss them and can't wait to see their baby girl coming in November!
Celebrated my first Mother's Day. Forgot to take a Father's Day picture, so this counts for both.
Spent a week with Adam's parents who visited for our niece's baptism and my graduation. It was so fun to have them here for so long! We took them to the beautiful Dallas Arboretum one day as part of a tour of the Big D. (Thanks, Jeff and Brie, for the Christmas gift!)
Adam taught Adelle how to scooter. She's the cutest, and we hope she won't forget her favorite aunt and uncle (or at least that's what we tell ourselves) when we move away!
Caught some lunch for Rachel's (in the middle) birthday. Three of us are moving away in the next 4-6 months! Bittersweet feeling, but I'm grateful for the friendships we've made while here in Dallas. Love these ladies (and of course their little girls).
Finally got to see Rachel again! I met this girl my junior year of high school, roomed with her in college for 4-5 years, and have so many memories with her. She's the bomb.com. Even between our trips back and forth from Texas and Utah, we haven't been able to get together since almost two years ago! It never feels like any time has passed when we see each other, though. Love her.
Celebrated this beautiful girl's marriage-to-be at her engagement party! Adam and I finally got to meet her fiance (who has been living in Alabama), and we totally approve. They are such a good looking, successful, power couple and we hope to be their friends forever! I met Sonya in our MBA program, and she has always been an example to me of beauty, class, and living life in line with God's desires for us. I just love her! They also invited us to the wedding next December in Cameroon. Yes, please. Adam and I might just have to make plans to go to Africa next year...
We finally made it to the symphony two weekends ago! Since we live so close to downtown, we had fun walking to and from the Meyerson, dressing up, and listening to some amazing music. It renewed my dream to still learn how to play the violin someday.
Adam and a few friends from work played in a charity dodgeball tournament last week. Lots of big companies in Dallas participated, and it was fun to be on the floor of the American Airlines Center. They didn't get the championship W, but they still made us proud...sweatbands and all.
After two and a half months of 80-hour work weeks, not including the 25 hours of travel back and forth from Brazil and/or Chile every week, Adam got to take the second half of last week off. We were in heaven! We spent our time watching the World Cup, swimming every day, getting some exercise, researching baby stuff, looking for new housing, deciding whether or not Adam will apply to school next fall, eating good food, and just relaxing and enjoying our time together. We felt blessed for him to get the time off after such a crazy few months.
Friday date night - we finally rode the trolley! It goes between uptown and downtown, and after a few mishaps (i.e., the trolley ran into the back of a taxi), delays because of said mishaps, and dinner, we took the 9-minute ride from uptown back to downtown before we walked home. Worth the 3-hour wait? Yes. After all, the trolley was free, and we got to enjoy the hoppin' city in the meantime.
We feel extremely blessed.
